So a few months ago, my friend Tara and myself held a competition on Wattpad called Best Short Stories 2015. The competition was aimed at amateur writers on Wattpad who did not have much exposure. They were required to write a short story in any genre and the winners and runners up would get promoted to help them get more exposure.

The competition ended a few months ago but sadly I haven’t had time to do the promoting until now. But as they say, better late than never. I am now very happy to announce the winners:

@alissawonders – wrote a beautiful short story called ‘Can I be first in your heart?
@RedBandit – wrote a wonderful story called ‘The Hate Circle‘.

As winners, they had their stories posted in the Best Short Stories 2015 book posted by @Tarasplace. If you want to check them out, just click on links above.

And finally, the runners up:

@RossiRamblings – who wrote ‘Carnival’
@TNTift – who wrote ‘Inhuman Escape’
@NerdFightersForever – who wrote ‘The Tale of a Young Princess’

Congratulations to all! Please go check out their profile and their work.

So here I am again, this time blogging about goodreads.com. Although I’ll admit, this is primarily for my benefit. But hey, that’s the point of blogging, right? 😉

What is Goodreads, you may ask? Wikipedia says it beautifully:

‘On the Goodreads website, users can add books to their personal bookshelves, rate and review books, see what their friends are reading, participate in discussion boards and groups on a variety of topics, and get suggestions for future reading choices based on their reviews of previously read books.’

What it doesn’t mention is it also has eBooks you can download and you can even upload your own eBook. Awesome, right?

I’ve recently upgraded my account to an author profile, which I am very excited about. No I’m not published yet but I am, in time, going to list my completed books from wattpad.com for people to review. Also when I’m published I’ll list them on there too.

So far I have only listed one book. It’s titled ‘In Love With Mr Wilson’ and is a YA novel. It has done surprisingly well on Wattpad, which I’m extremely happy about.

The statistics of that book is as follows (as of 2nd July 2014):

Reads: 310, 744

Votes: 3,077

Of course it’s not one of the most popular on Wattpad, after all it’s a tough world out there! But considering how tough it is to get noticed, I think it’s doing pretty damn good. The reads keep going up every day too.

So if you’ve read it, or if you’re interested in reading it, pop by and have a look. I would also really love if you left a review on Goodreads. I’ll even post the links below for easy access.

For those who haven’t really looked at Goodreads, it’s a really great idea. If you’re not published in eBook or print but you’ve published online (like me with publishing on wattpad), I’d suggest giving this a go. It’s a great way to get honest reviews.  If you are published, then obviously I’d suggest using it anyway.

Thanks in advance.
